Boosting Existing Infrastructure
Creating new infrastructure while letting existing infrastructure deteriorate with neglect, doesn’t make sense to us, to the system, or even to the planet. Instead of creating something new, we set out to repair, resurrect, and sustain existing medical infrastructure that was created years ago, but not maintained well or upgraded because of lack of attention and resources.
MMF supports various hospitals, clinics and public health centres across Maharashtra, Gujarat and the rest of India. Supporting with infrastructure and facilities, medical equipment, remuneration for doctors, training for medical staff, and the well-being of patients, their relatives and staff. Along with sponsoring surgeries, medical fees and advanced medical procedures for genuine cases. We have set up various departments across hospitals. Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, Neonatal Care, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), to name a few. We have also stationed support staff, employed by us, at various hospitals, to assist patients and relatives, and as points of contact for any emergency needs.
Our Focus Areas
KEM Hospital, Pune
Our association began in April 2001 when we set up the first Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at KEM Hospital, where we have stationed a caregiver to liaise between this unit and our team. We were instrumental in setting up their second PICU, the Sonali Ward, in October 2012, to lend additional support to the growing footfall at the hospital. In May 2018, we upgraded these PICUs with life-saving medical equipment.
To make the hospital more comfortable and patient-friendly, we provided some infrastructural facilities, and created spaces for new mothers to breastfeed their infants and a play area for children. We also refurbished their Audiometry Room. We signed an agreement to expand the milk bank at the hospital, enhancing its capacity from 300 ml to 3 liters.
To support the education of doctors, we offer a fellowship grant to medical interns at the hospital’s paediatric unit, whose remuneration is part-funded by us. We also respond to appeals for financial support from 3,000+ patients here each month and provide monthly medical assistance to deserving patients.
Additionally, we also run a free monthly diabetes screening camp for children where we provide monthly blood tests and insulin vials to 8-10 deserving patients.
Our 22-year association has helped transform many lives and together, we hope to continue to do so.
