Palkhi 2017 – 18th to 29th June 2017
Palkhi, a unique feature of Maharashtrian culture, is a 1000-year-old tradition followed by the warkaris (people who follow the wari, a fundamental ritual). People collectively go singing & dancing, chanting Dnyanba-Tukaram in what are called as Dindis (organised group of warkaris) to the holy town of Pandharpur in Hindu months of Ashadh (June-July) & Karthik (November-December).
The Palkhi starts in the month of Jyeshth (June) & the whole process lasts a total of 22 days. Every year on the eleventh day of the first half of the month of Ashadh, the Palkhi reaches Pandharpur.
Finolex Industries Ltd & its CSR partner Mukul Madhav Foundation Trust take active part by providing Medical support to the Warkaris in association with Sassoon General Hospital Pune & BVG ambulance services.
FIL & Mukul Madhav Foundation Trust has organised free Medical camps from 18 June to 29 June Dighi, Saswad, Urlikanchan, Nira, Lonand, Taradgaon, Phaltan, Baramati, Indapur, Akhluj.
ISKCON in association with Finolex Industries Ltd. & Mukul Madhav Foundation provided free breakfast for the Warkaris at Pune.
