A Family’s Resilience
Amith’s Journey of Hope
2nd Aug 2024
Here’s how a family’s love and support transformed a young boy’s life. In the town of Khanagaon in Karnataka, we find the inspiring story of Amith Kanbargi, born on 2nd December 2010. From birth, Amith faced multiple challenges. His mother’s high blood pressure during pregnancy posed a risk, and he was born weighing only 2 kg. As months passed, his parents noticed his minimal body movement and delayed developmental milestones. Concerned, they consulted a paediatrician who began treatment to address his needs.
His father, Ashok, works in agriculture, and his mother, Sangeeta, is a housewife. Despite their modest monthly income of Rs. 20,000, they are dedicated to providing the best care for Amith and his sibling.
When Amith’s parents heard about Mukul Madhav Foundation (MMF), they registered him for our medical camp. They worked closely with us to develop a comprehensive intervention plan. His parents’ dedication and love drove his progress. With support, Amith received mobility aid, including an ankle-foot orthosis. His parents ensured he attended all home visits for educational support, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy. They actively participated in every session, learning exercises and strategies to help him at home.
We also offered counselling and training to his parents, which they embraced wholeheartedly. They diligently implemented the exercises and strategies, determined to see their son improve. Amith’s progress is evident. He is more mobile and shows improvements in his educational activities. His family’s combined efforts, supported by MMF’s resources, made a remarkable difference in Amith’s life. His journey of overcoming obstacles continues, driven by his family’s love and commitment.
